Efficient Ways to Get Around Merced


Below are recommended ways for students to travel around Merced and to campus, provided by UC Merced's Transportation and Parking Services and the City of Merced.

Biking

Biking throughout Merced is easy. Merced provides bike lanes on both Bellevue and Lake Road to ensure students can safely bike to campus. In addition, there are many bike paths and routes through Merced.

CatTracks

UC Merced offers a free bus service for students. Students must have their cat card present to ride CatTracks for free; without your cat card the fee is $2. There are 9 lines available to take students throughout Merced. Find out more at cattracks.ucmerced.edu.

Taxi's, UBER, and ZipCar

Uber has come to Merced to make getting around a little easier, and fares typically range from $5-$15. Other than Uber, there are also Yellow Cabs to take students around. UC Merced's TAPS also provides ZipCar for students to rent vehicles for a fee. Find info at zipcar.com.

Merced City Bus

Merced has a city bus system that goes to areas of Merced spanning further than CatTracks routes. Route UC is the specific bus route that comes to the UC campus. Students can also ride the city bus for free by providing their cat card; without one the fee is $2. Find out more at mercedthebus.com.
